MySpace Stalker Arrested When He Shows Up at Woman's House

Want to stalk someone online? You can probably get away with that . . . at least until you show up at her home in person after driving to California all the way from Michigan. That, after allegedly emailing a young woman for a year, and then telling her you love her so much that you sold your welding business to move closer to her. At that point, someone is likely to call the REAL cops who will likely arrest you for REAL. Here's more from the LA Times:
A Michigan man is facing a stalking charge after he showed up at the door of a Thousand Oaks woman he had been sending unwanted messages to for more than a year on the social website MySpace, Ventura County authorities said.

George Costales, 39, was arrested Wednesday and is being held in the main Ventura County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, officials said. He faces a single count of felony stalking. Costales sent messages to the woman over the last year even though she repeatedly attempted to block his access to her MySpace profile, said Det. Eric Buschow of the county Sheriff's Department.

In recent months, he began sending video clips of himself that included comments of a graphic sexual nature, Buschow said. He also told the woman that he intended to move to California to be with her, the detective said.

He declined to identify the alleged victim, but said she is an adult who did not seek Costales' attention. MySpace gives users the option of blocking other account holders and the woman attempted to do that, Buschow said. "This was very one-sided on his part," Buschow said. "She blocked him at least five different times, but he managed to get around that and continued to contact her."

Several days ago, Costales told the woman that he was selling his welding business and moving to California because he loved her, Buschow said. He told the woman that he had read poems on her MySpace page and believed that she had written them for him, Buschow said. "This was unwanted and unprovoked," he said. "She was physically sick over this."

On Wednesday morning, Costales allegedly showed up at the door of her Thousand Oaks home. The woman wasn't there, but her boyfriend recognized the man from the MySpace postings and wrote down his license plate number as he drove off, investigators said.

Sheriff's deputies then used the Internet to lure Costales back to the woman's home that night, and he was taken into custody, Buschow said.

Teen at Center of Chicago Metra Scandal Posted Pics and Story on His MySpace Page

Riders on Chicago's Metra rail system probably didn't know that a teenager was at the wheel of their train the other day . . . unless, of course, they read the My Space page of the 18-year-old boy who loved trains and has ended up at the center of the current Metra scandal. Here's more from the Chicago Tribune:

For as long as he can remember, the 18-year-old at the center of the current Metra scandal has loved trains.

As a small boy standing near the tracks, he enjoyed the wind whipping against his face as the locomotives barreled through town. When he became old enough, he would visit local depots on his own to record videos and snap pictures. He would wait at the stations for 10 to 20 hours a week when he was in high school, often standing close to the spot where the locomotives stopped. He would wave enthusiastically to the engineers in the cabs.

"If you're lucky, sometimes they open the window and talk to you," he said. The teen, who is not facing criminal charges and was 17 when the incidents allegedly occurred, would not discuss the specific charges with the Tribune. But he expressed remorse over the investigation and said he didn't want to see Voss punished for encouraging a young man's dream of working the rails. "It showed me the life," he said. "If you want this lifestyle, then you have to know what you're going to be dealing with."

Metra officials learned about the alleged rides two weeks ago after someone reported that the teen had posted photographs of his adventures on his MySpace page. The teen says the snapshots showed him inside the cab, but not driving. In addition to the Voss investigation, two other engineers could face disciplinary action for permitting the teen to enter locomotive cabs. All three have been suspended without pay, Metra said. A hearing has been scheduled for November.

If You're on the Run From the Cops, Don't Post Your New Address on MySpace - Stolen Monkeys

All we can say is: DUMBASS! The guys not only broke into a monkey enclosure at a zoo looking for pot, but then they stole the primates and fled the state . . . only to boast of their new whereabouts on their MySpace Page. Here's more from UPI:
A Pennsylvania prosecutor says a suspected monkey thief was arrested after posting his new phone number and part of his Maryland address on MySpace. Steven Labore, 19, and Michael Naylor, 19, were charged with stealing two monkeys, named Gwendolyn and Lucy, from a Wild World of Animals greenhouse after determining a rumor about the greenhouse containing marijuana was false, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
Chad Schneider, an assistant district attorney in Washington County, Pa., said the monkeys were returned to authorities by Labore's mother and Naylor pleaded guilty to burglary, yielding a prison sentence of two to five years.
Labore, however, missed his court date in March after being freed on $20,000 bond. Schneider said Labore's MySpace page led authorities straight to him in southern Maryland. "I just punched it in," Schneider. "He had his phone number and his address, so I figured I'd go get him."

Hospital Employees Fired for Posting Pictures of Emergency Room Patients on Their MySpace Page

Aren't there some pretty strict rules in the medical world about privacy? I mean, yeah, if you want to be one of those freaks who puts there own hideous condition online, that's one thing, but to have a hospital employee do it? Like they were vacation pictures from Cancun? Cell phone cameras: worst idea ever! In the end, it cost two University of New Mexico Hospital employees their jobs and hopefully sent a warning to everyone else who works in the medical profession: No Pictures Please! Here's more from Yahoo News:
Two University of New Mexico Hospital employees have been fired for using their cell phone cameras to take photos of patients receiving treatment and then posting the images to a social networking Web site. of Public Affairs Sam Giammo said Sunday the photos — mainly close-ups of injuries being treated in the Albuquerque hospital's emergency room over the past few months — were posted on an employee's private MySpace page. The photos were discovered after a hospital supervisor received an anonymous tip about them Tuesday and launched an investigation.

Cop Calls Kid's MySpace Pictures "Slutty" Shares Them With Sexual Predator in Prison

Officer John F. "Was That So Wrong?" Gay III of the Cheyenne Police Department was supposed to be conducting an Internet safety class for students at Windsor High School. Instead, he pulled up photos from several of the girl's MySpace pages, pointed out to all those in attendance that the photos were “slutty” and saying the sites invited sexual predators. To prove his point, Officer Gay claimed he shared one local girl's info with a sexual predator in prison, and that the incarcerated man would masturbate to her image. Not surprisingly, that did not set well with parents at Windsor High. Here's more from the Coloradoan:
“He told the entire student body that he had shared her info with a sexual predator in prison,” said Ty Nordic, whose daughter Shaylah Nordic’s MySpace page was put on display. Nordic said Gay then told the student body that the predator said he would masturbate to her picture.
Shaylah Nordic then left the room as Gay pulled up her phone number and called
her on stage to demonstrate how easy it was to get a hold of contact information via the Internet. “He told about a story about a girl in another state who was tracked through MySpace who was raped and shot and then said Shaylah’s page is inviting people to do the exact same things to her,” Nordic said. Windsor High School Principal Rick Porter said today that he was aware of what the speaker was going to talk about and that he would likely use a couple My Space pages of Windsor High School students as an example.
Porter said he had no idea that Gay was going to make his presentation in the manner he did or use the language he is accused of using. “I was very disappointed,” Porter said. “I never heard him say things like that before.” Gay could not be reached for comment.

Philly Man Send to Jail for Making "Terroristic Threats" in YouTube Video

Dumbass. Rap video. YouTube. Arrest. Any questions, fool? Here's more on the story from The Bulletin:
A two-minute rap video leaked to the Internet in June has resulted in a West Philadelphia man being charged with making terroristic threats. Andre Moore, 44, is shown wielding a gun, rapping about rejoicing when police die and instructing viewers how to load a clip into a chamber and "shoot them dead." The "them" in the video is allegedly referring to Philadelphia police.
Mr. Moore, of West Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats after federal prosecutors alleged he made an instructional video about killing police officers. The video allegedly said, "when you shoot, shoot them dead - in the heart or in the head." Jim Wheeler, spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #5 decried the societal conditions that gave rise to the rapper's anti-police rant.
"This just shows the level we're sinking to in the city as far as respect for law and order," he said. Yesterday, a federal judge sentenced Mr. Moore to six to 23 months house arrest followed by three years of probation.

Man Usees Facebook to Cyber-Stalk Girls, Have Cyber-Sex With Unsuspecting Men

This one is just plain strange . . . and sorta funny. This guy created Facebook pages for two girls, pretty much hounding them every day for two years. That's bad. On the other hand, pretending to be the girls (based on the pages) he was able to trick men online into having cybersex with him. Here's more from WECT:
An Indiana man was arrested for cyber-stalking two sister and using their identities for sex. The man got away with the crime for two years before it was discovered.
Prosecutors have charged the man who worked at the family's church with felony stalking and misdemeanor harassment. According to police, he created Facebook accounts under the young women's names and pretended to be them.
He posted pictures of the young women and displayed personal contact information and even provided details to their after-school activities and work places. Using the fake identities, he had cyber-sex with men around the world, using graphic language.
The pastor of the church discovered the ruse when he was compiling an internet list of his congregation to take to his new position out of town.
